California Privacy Notice
Last updated: June 10, 2026
This California Privacy Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and applies to California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA/CPRA”). It describes the categories of personal information that Mobile Phonebook (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, the sources and purposes, the parties we disclose to, whether we sell or share that information, and your rights.
Categories of personal information we collect
Mobile Phonebook is a call-based referral directory: we do not use web forms to collect names, emails, or addresses. Within the CCPA's categories, we collect:
- Identifiers: your telephone number (caller ID), captured automatically when you call a number listed on our site, and your IP address when you browse the site. Source: directly from your call; automatically from your browser. Purpose: routing your call, returning the specific call you initiated, billing connected calls, fraud prevention.
- Geolocation data (approximate): the ZIP code you enter into our automated phone system, and approximate location derived from your IP address. Source: directly from you during the call; derived from your IP. Purpose: routing your call to a local provider; site analytics.
- Audio information: recordings of calls (where permitted by law) and call metadata such as the number dialed, date, time, duration, and routing outcome. Source: automatically through our phone system. Purpose: quality assurance, verification and billing of connected calls, fraud prevention, dispute resolution.
- Internet or other electronic network activity: pages viewed, referring URLs, browser and device type, and similar data collected through cookies and standard analytics tools. Source: automatically when you use the site. Purpose: site operation, analytics, advertising measurement, attributing calls to the pages and ads that generated them.
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as government IDs, financial account numbers, health information, or precise geolocation), and we ask that you not share such information on calls. We do not knowingly collect or sell/share the personal information of consumers under 16.
Sale and sharing of personal information
In the preceding 12 months, we have disclosed the categories above as follows. When you call a listed number, your phone number, the ZIP code you enter, and (where recorded) the call recording and related metadata are passed to the independent service provider, or the marketing network working with that provider, that receives and fulfills your call, and that provider or network may pay us for the connected call. Under California law, this disclosure may constitute a “sale” of personal information. Internet activity data may be “shared” with analytics and advertising partners for advertising measurement. We also disclose information to service providers (telephony, call-routing, recording, and analytics vendors) under contracts that restrict their use of it. Retention: call records and recordings are kept as long as needed to verify and bill calls, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations; website analytics data is typically kept up to about 24 months.
Your California rights
- Right to know/access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, purposes, and third parties.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep to document and bill completed calls or prevent fraud).
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; see our Do Not Sell or Share page.
- Right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information, where applicable (we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information).
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
How to exercise your rights
Email privacy@mobilephonebook.org with the subject “California Privacy Request,” and include the phone number you called from and the approximate date of your call so we can locate your records. You can also use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. Where required by law, we honor a recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out of sale/sharing for the browser or device on which it is received. Note: GPC applies to website data; because calls are connected by sharing them with a provider, opting out of sale/sharing means we will be unable to connect future calls you place to our numbers.
Verification
Because we generally hold only a phone number, ZIP code, and call records, we verify requests by matching the phone number and call details you provide against our records. We may ask for additional information if we cannot verify your identity, and we will not use verification information for any other purpose. If we cannot verify a request to know, delete, or correct, we will tell you why.
Authorized agents
You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf. We may require the agent to provide proof of your written permission and may require you to verify your identity directly with us.
